The White Company is a historical adventure by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle set during the Hundred Years' War. The story The White Company is set in England, France and Spain during the Middle Ages in the years 1366 and 1367. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle became inspired to write the novel The White Company after attending a lecture on medieval times and starting HIS own years-long, extensive research. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself regarded The White Company and his other historical novels more highly than the Sherlock Holmes adventures which he is mainly remembered for.

The White Company by Arthur Conan Doyle: At the age of twenty, the young Alleyne, son of Edric, intelligent, skilled, and well-liked, though sheltered and naive, leaves the Catholic abbey where he has been raised and goes out to see the world, in accordance with the terms of his father's will. The same day, the abbot banishes John of Hordle, for worldly behavior: great appetite, teasing, and flirting. At the Pied Merlin inn, they make friends with veteran archer Sam Aylward. He has returned to England from France to recruit for the White Company of mercenaries, and brings an request for Sir Nigel Loring of Christchurch to take command. Aylward and John continue to Christchurch, while Alleyne detours to visit his older brother, the "socman" or landlord of Minstead, whose fierce reputation has grown to wickedness...

The novel The White Company is relatively unknown today, though it was very popular through the Second World War. (Summary by Wikipedia)

The Moonstone (1868) by Wilkie Collins is a 19th-century British epistolary novel, generally considered the first detective novel in the English language. The story The Moonstone was originally serialized in Charles Dickens' magazine All the Year Round. The Moonstone and The Woman in White are considered Wilkie Collins' best novels. Besides creating many of the ground rules of the detective novel, The Moonstone also reflected Wilkie Collins' enlightened social attitudes in his treatment of the Indians and the servants in the novel.
Rachel Verinder, a young Englishwoman, inherits a large Indian diamond on her eighteenth birthday. It is a legacy from her uncle, a corrupt British army officer who served in India...

The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins: The diamond is of great religious significance as well as being extremely valuable, and three Hindu priests have dedicated their lives to recovering it. The story The Moonstone incorporates elements of the legendary origins of the Hope Diamond (or perhaps the Orloff Diamond). Rachel's eighteenth birthday is celebrated with a large party, whose guests include her cousin Franklin Blake. She wears the Moonstone on her dress that evening for all to see, including some Indian jugglers who have called at the house. Later that night, the diamond is stolen from Rachel's bedroom, and a period of turmoil, unhappiness, misunderstandings and ill-luck ensues...

White Fang full audiobook online free:

White Fang is a novel by American writer Jack London. First serialized in Outing magazine, White Fang was published in 1906. The story White Fang takes place in Yukon Territory, Canada, during the Klondike Gold Rush at the end of the 19th-century, and details a wild wolfdog's journey to domestication. White Fang is a companion novel (and a thematic mirror) to Jack London's best-known work, The Call of the Wild, which concerns a kidnapped, domesticated dog turning into a wild animal.
Much of the novel White Fang is written from the view-point of his canine character, enabling London to explore how animals view their world and how they view humans. White Fang examines the violent world of wild animals and the equally violent world of humans. The book White Fang also explores complex themes including morality and redemption.
White Fang has been adapted for the screen numerous times.

White Fang by Jack London: The story begins before the three-quarters wolf-dog hybrid is born, with two men and their sled dog team. The men, Bill and Henry, are stalked by a large pack of starving wolves over the course of several days. Finally, four more teams find Henry, after all his dogs have been eaten and Bill has been killed, in a ring of coals from his fire in an attempt to keep the wolves away. The story then follows the pack, which has been robbed of its last prey. When the pack finally manages to bring down a moose, the famine is ended; they eventually split up, and the story now follows a she-wolf and her mate, One Eye. The she-wolf gives birth to a litter of five cubs by the Mackenzie River, and all but one die from hunger...

One Eye is killed by a lynx while trying to rob its den for food for the she-wolf and her cub; his mate later discovers his remains near the lynx's den. The surviving cub and the she-wolf are left to fend for themselves.
The cub comes across five Native Americans one day, and the she-wolf comes to his rescue ... (Summary from Wikipedia)

The Last of the Mohicans is an epic novel by James Fenimore Cooper, first published in January 1826.
The Last of the Mohicans was one of the most popular English-language novels of its time, and helped establish James Fenimore Cooper as one of the first world-famous American writers. The story The Last of the Mohicans takes place in 1757 during the French and Indian War, when France and Great Britain battled for control of the American and Canadian colonies. During this war, the French often allied themselves with Native American tribes in order to gain an advantage over the British, with unpredictable and often tragic results...

Parts of the story may have been derived from the capture and death of Jane McCrea in July 1777 near Fort Edward, New York, by members of an Algonquian tribe...

Heart of Darkness is a novella written by Joseph Conrad. Before Heart of Darkness's 1902 publication, Heart of Darkness appeared as a three-part series (1899) in Blackwood's Magazine. Heart of Darkness is widely regarded as a significant work of English literature and part of the Western canon.
The story Heart of Darkness opens with an unnamed narrator describing five men, apparently colleagues, on a boat anchored on the River Thames near London and the surroundings as dusk settles in and they await the turning of the tide. The narrator cites a passenger known as Marlow: the only one of the men who "still followed the sea." Marlow makes a comment about London having been, too, "one of the dark places on earth"; thus begins the story of Marlow and a job he took as captain of a steamship in Africa...

Heart of Darkness movie trailer online free (1992):

Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad: Marlow begins by ruminating on how Britain's image among Ancient Roman officials must have been similar to Africa's image among 19th century British officials. He describes how his "dear aunt" used many of her contacts to secure the job for him. When he arrives at the job, he encounters many men he dislikes as they strike him as untrustworthy. They speak often of a man named Kurtz, who has quite a reputation in many areas of expertise. He is somewhat of a rogue ivory collector, "essentially a great musician," a journalist, a skilled painter and "a universal genius"...

Heart of Darkness full movie online free (1994):

Marlow arrives at the Central Station run by the general manager, an unwholesome conspiratorial character. He finds that his steamship has been sunk and spends several months waiting for parts to repair it. There is a rumor regarding Kurtz being ill; this makes the delays in repairing the ship all the more costly. Marlow gets the parts and he and the manager set out with a few agents and a crew of cannibals on a long, difficult voyage up the river... (Summary by Wikipedia)

The Coral Island is a novel written by Scottish juvenile fiction author Robert Michael Ballantyne. The Coral Island was voted as one of the top twenty Scottish novels in the 2006 15th International World Wide Web Conference.
The story The Coral Island is written as a first person narrative from the perspective of one of three boys shipwrecked on the coral reef of a large but uninhabited Polynesian island, 15-year-old Ralph Rover. He and his companions – 18-year-old Jack Martin, and 14-year-old Peterkin Gay – are the sole survivors from the ship. At first their life is idyllic; food, in the shape of fruits, fish and wild pigs, is plentiful on The Coral Island, and using their only possessions, a broken telescope, an iron-bound oar and a small axe, they fashion a shelter and even construct a small boat...

The Coral Island by Robert Michael Ballantyne: Their first contact with other humans comes after several months when they observe two large outrigger canoes land on the beach. The two groups of Polynesians they contain engage in battle, and the three boys intervene to defeat the attackers, earning them the gratitude of the chief Tararo. The Polynesians leave, and the three boys are alone once more.

Less welcome visitors then arrive in the shape of British pirates, who make a living trading or stealing sandalwood. The three boys conceal themselves in a hidden cave, but Ralph is captured when he sets out to see if the pirates have left and is taken aboard the pirate schooner. Ralph strikes up an unexpected friendship with one of the pirates, Bloody Bill, and when they call at an island to trade for more wood he meets Tararo again. On the island he sees many facets of its culture, including the popular sport of surfing, the sacrificing of babies to eel gods, rape, and cannibalism... (Summary from Wikipedia)

The Sea-Wolf is a 1904 psychological adventure novel by American novelist Jack London about a literary critic, survivor of an ocean collision who comes under the dominance of Wolf Larsen, the powerful and amoral sea captain who rescues him. The Sea-Wolf's first printing of forty thousand copies were immediately sold out.
The Sea Wolf tells the story of a soft, domesticated protagonist, in this novel's case an intellectual man named Humphrey van Weyden, forced to become tough and self-reliant by exposure to cruelty and brutality.

The Sea-Wolf by Jack London: The story The Sea Wolf starts with him aboard a San Francisco ferry, called Martinez, which collides with another ship in the fog and sinks. He is set adrift in the Bay, eventually being picked up by Wolf Larsen. Larsen is the captain of a seal-hunting schooner, the Ghost. Brutal and cynical, yet also highly intelligent and intellectual (though highly biased in his opinions, as he was self-taught), he rules over his ship and terrorizes the crew with the aid of his exceptionally great physical strength...

The Sea-Wolf full movie online free (in German language):

Van Weyden adequately describes him as an individualist, hedonist, and materialist. Larsen does not believe in the immortality of the soul, he finds no meaning in his life save for survival and pleasure and has come to despise all human life and deny its value. Being interested in someone capable of intellectual disputes, he somewhat takes care of Van Weyden, whom he calls 'Hump', while forcing him to become a cabin boy, do menial work, and learn to fight to protect himself from a brutal crew in The Sea Wolf by Jack London...
